We build in-house solutions on our open-source XYZ framework, which powers our online mapping platform, MAPP. Using MAPP, we combine forecasting methods, statistical models, and diverse datasets to create bespoke web mapping tools tailored to each client. Every project is unique, integrating client, our own, and third-party data.
This is where you come in. We're looking for a Software Configuration Developer experienced in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, with a passion for spatial data and maps, to join our team and translate complex analytics into innovative, client-focused solutions that shape business strategies.
The Role
As a Software Configuration Developer, you will be responsible for bringing our bespoke spatial solutions to life on our MAPP platform. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Configuring and Customising bespoke web mapping instances on our XYZ framework to meet precise customer specifications, focusing on visual excellence and lightning-fast data layer performance.
- Data Engineering & Querying: Writing and optimising complex spatial SQL queries (PostGIS/Postgres) to extract high-value insights and manage efficient data transfer between various databases.
- Front-end Development: Collaborating with our development team to build new, and enhance existing, bespoke features and functionalities using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- QA and Deployment: Ensuring high standards for deployment by rigorously testing configurations and collaborating on version control using Git/GitHub.

About You
You are a proactive, detail-oriented individual who enjoys solving unique spatial problems and takes immense pride in the visual and functional quality of your work. You are creative but organised, able to balance independent deep-work with effective team communication. You are eager to learn new technologies and apply your initiative.
Essential Technical Skills
- Expert Proficiency in SQL, especially within a geographic context (PostGIS/PostgreSQL or similar, e.g., MSSQL).
- Solid understanding and practical experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Experience with Git/GitHub for version control and collaborative development.
- A passion for and foundational understanding of spatial data and mapping concepts.
Desirable (Bonus) Skills
- Familiarity with GIS and web-GIS tools (Leaflet, OpenLayers, QGIS).
- Experience visualising complex data for the web and ensuring an excellent user experience.
- Familiarity with database administration concepts.
